PK Narra Forest Tree Planting

Mabuhay! In celebration of our chairman, Sir Paul Louie Tugade’s birthday, PK Holdings  demonstrated its commitment to giving back to the environment through one of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. On September 20, our team, in partnership with Ma’am Violeta C. Imperial from the Nature Awareness and Conservation Club, Inc. (NACC), a non-profit NGO, and in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), conducted a tree planting activity in the mountains of Mamuyao, Tanay, Rizal.

Focusing on the importance of reforesting the Sierra Madre, PK Holdings donated 1,000 narra seedlings to Brgy. Mamuyao, establishing what is now called the PK Narra Forest. This region is not only vital for its biodiversity but also serves as a natural shield against typhoons and flooding. Often referred to as the “backbone of Luzon,” the Sierra Madre plays a crucial role in protecting millions of lives and maintaining ecological balance.

Volunteer employees from different departments across all companies participated in an immersion trip, which included a short environmental seminar, several river crossings, and the actual planting of trees. The activity allowed participants to experience firsthand the challenges and beauty of nature. After the planting, everyone enjoyed fellowship, strengthening connections and highlighting the importance of taking care of our environment.

As we plant seeds for the future, PK Holdings believes that fostering environmental awareness and malasakit must start from within. Employees, from management to staff, play a vital role in driving change, and their involvement in such activities ensures that these values are ingrained in our corporate culture.

As the famous environmentalist Wendell Berry once said, “The earth is what we all have in common.” May this initiative inspire us all to continue taking care of the planet for future generations.
